Minimum age for infant acceptance on board Etihad Airways flights is 7 days. Based on operational requirement there is a limit on the number of Infants that can be accepted on board.
In order to comply with IATA regulations on Child and Infant bookings, the Date of Birth (DOB) must be inserted while creating reservations and issuing tickets for Children and Infants e.g. INF or CHD.

Infants with seats
A seat can be reserved for an Infant carried in a portable car-type seat. An adult must occupy a seat next to the Infant and the car-type seat can be used for take-off and landing. Passengers travelling with children (over 6 months and up to 36 months) may use their own car-type seats in conjunction with a normal aircraft seat and only if the appropriate
child ticket has been purchased.
Please note a specific PNR code is required (INS) instead of (INF) and in addition a check-in message should be entered.
Child Car seat must meet the following standards:
• Forward facing type with a harness that allows strapping to a passenger seat by use of a lap belt only.
• Be in good condition, have a solid back (no recline facility) and show no signs of damage.
• Have a single release type harness which secures the Infants lap, shoulders and torso.
• Bear the following labels in red lettering:
“This child restraint system conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards. This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft”
If for any reason the car type seat is not approved at check-in, it will be stowed away in the cargo hold.
NB. Parents carrying Infants may not be seated at the emergency exits seats.
Parents travelling with more than two Infants
Parents travelling with more than one Infant (under 2 years) should arrange for an escort to assist with the additional Infants. If an escort is arranged, the fare paid for the second Infant shall be the relevant fare for an Infant travelling with parent. If an escort is not arranged the second Infant must be seated in an approved car type seat and the appropriate Child ticket purchased.

Children
A child is defined as aged between 2-12 years (up to 12th birthday) and should be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years and above.
Child’s Date of Birth should be included with the name in the PNR and on ticket.
Child meals are available and should be pre-booked in PNR prior to departure.
Fare combination for Infant and Child
If issuing a ticket for an Infant which on the outbound is defined as an Infant (i.e. under 2 years) but on return is over 2 years and thus defined as Child. Two one way tickets should be issued i.e. outbound one way Infant ticket and inbound one way Child ticket.
However if after departure a change to reservation is required and the Infant status changes to Child due to new travel dates, a new one way Child ticket would need to be purchased.
The above policy also applies in instances where a child changes to adult status due to change of travel dates after departure, a new one way adult ticket to be purchased.
