City Overview: London
London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom and home to over 7.6 million people. Situated in the south-east of the country, it’s one of the UK’s most popular destinations for tourists and business people. Etihad Airways operates flights to London from Abu Dhabi so take a look at our short guide to London and find out about some of its attractions.

About the City
London was founded by the Romans and was known originally as Londinium. Today it is the political and economic centre of England, and it’s where you’ll find the Houses of Parliament and the Queen’s main city residence, Buckingham Palace.

Situated on the banks of the River Thames, London is divided into 32 boroughs, which include the City of London, the City of Westminster, Camden, Greenwich, and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Etihad Airways operates flights to and from London Heathrow Airport, the largest airport in England. London Heathrow Airport lies just 24 miles to the west of the centre of London.
