Deportees

A deportee is a person who has entered into a country either legally or illegally and is ordered by the authorities to leave the country.

Procedure
Whenever a booking for a deportee is requested by a deporting authority the following should be adhered to:   

• Create a single PNR for the deportee and escort. If separate PNRs are created they need to be cross referenced with the TCP details.

• Contact Etihad airways for the approval at least seven days before intended date of travel.

Carriage of the deportee is possible under the following conditions:

If the deportee is considered deportee accompanied (DEPA),it is necessary that they are accompanied by  security personnel, and the following should apply:   

a). The deporting authority must provide two qualified security escorts capable of controlling the DEPA during  the flight to accompany them until reaching the final destination, at the deporting authority’s expense.
   
b).The final decision for the carriage of the DEPA lies with the captain, who may deny DEPA boarding under certain circumstances when there is a legitimate reason to believe that the DEPA is a danger to the safety and security of the flight.  

- If the deportee is considered as deportee unaccompanied (DEPU) the following conditions should apply:  
  
a). The deporting authority is to provide information on whether the DEPU is fit to fly unescorted.
 
b). The reason for deportation. 

- if the DEPU will face charges upon arrival at the intended destination
 
a). The final decision for the carriage of the DEPU lies with the captain, who may deny DEPU boarding under certain circumstances when there is a legitimate reason to believe that the DEPU is a danger to the safety and security of the flight.
 
 -  in such events it is the responsibility of the delivering carrier to arrange alternative arrangements for the guest.

Exemptions  
Amnesty deportees are passengers from the GCC who have overstayed their visa and are deemed as a non threat and are willing to be removed. These deportees will be in possession of their own travel documents and will not require care of cabin manager.

Medical deportees
Medical deportees are passengers who are directed to leave a country by government authorities. This person will be required to leave the country due to having contracted a particular illness or having been in contact with a diseased person. These passengers may be allowed to travel without an escort but authority for their travel with or without an escort must be obtained from the Etihad Airways doctor.
