Dublin is the capital of the Ireland and its largest city. Locate at the opening of the River Liffey and on Ireland's east coast, Dublin is considered to be a city full of history and culture. It also has one of the fastest growing populations of any European city.
Dublin was first inhabited around 140 AD although the town was established much later, around 850 AD, as a Viking settlement. Anglo-Norman rule did not begin until the 12th century, to become the Republic of Ireland many years after the partition of Ireland. Dublin's population exceeds 1 million people now and has a heritage of famous persons being raised in the city, the most famous of which is probably James Joyce, where he wrote his greatest works.

Dublin Castle Dublin Castle was originally built as a defensive position in 1204, although it wasn't actually a finished work until 1230. Over the years the Castle has performed various functions including a prison, treasury, court of law, the seat of the English Administration and military fortress. It has been rebuilt 4 times, once a year from the 17th to 20th century. In the castle are; Restaurant, Heritage Centre, Undercroft, Craft Shop, The State Apartments and Chapel Royal.
