Located about 25 kilometres east of downtown Bangkok, the sleek new 24-hour Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the world's biggest single terminals with plenty of shops, restaurants, and a spa.

Bangkok Airport is the fifth busiest airport in Asia, having handled 40.5 million passengers in 2009. The airport has two parallel runways and two parallel taxiways to accommodate simultaneous departures and arrivals.

The airport is the gateway to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. On-going redevelopment work at Abu Dhabi airport has significantly enhanced the experience for passengers and has allowed Etihad to increase the number of its flights to Bangkok from Abu Dhabi.

Terminal 3 at Abu Dhabi airport was opened in February 2009, increasing the airport's passenger handling capacity from five to 12 million passengers a year.
